Angry farmers: blocked highways, severe disruptions… update on the situation this Monday

Faced with financial burdens and environmental standards deemed too heavy, French farmers are demonstrating to express their anger. 

"The demonstrators blocked the A9 motorway at the southern toll entrance ramp in the France-Spain direction of traffic. The exit is obligatory in this direction of traffic at the north toll. Avoid the sector,” warns the prefect of Pyrénées-Orientales on his official X account, this Monday, January 22, 2024.

Tractors, tippers, straw wall

The mobilization of farmers continues in the Occitanie region. Strong disruptions were reported in different sectors of the department, indicates the prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne, in a press release reporting a situation update at 11:30 a.m. this Monday.

On the A64 motorway, near Toulouse, between Peyssies and Carbonne precisely, underlines Le Parisien, the roadway has been occupied since Thursday January 18, 2024 in the evening by tractors, skips and a wall of straw. In the Gers, the N124 is partially blocked, between interchanges 11 and 13, according to our colleagues.

"The overflowing glass"

The national president of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau, will be received this Monday, January 22, 2024 at the end of the day by the Prime Minister.
