Angry anglers
#LEGRAU-DU-ROI.Around fifty people marched Monday evening, fishing rods on their shoulders in the streets of Grau-du-Roi, against the ban now placed on them from engaging in their leisure along of the pier. The municipal decree was issued a week earlier, after a young fisherman was seriously injured in the temple by a lead ball while he was on a trawler which was going up the channel. Incidents and invectives between recreational and professional fishermen are said to be frequent, which is contested by the demonstrators, who claim to haul up their lines as the trawlers pass. The demonstrators are determined to continue their action as long as the decree is maintained.< /p>
La Castagnette wants to revive the Cévennes chestnut
#GARD. Among the flagship products of the Cévennes, there is pélardon, the delicious sweet onion and… chestnuts. However, despite a natural abundance in the forest and a protected designation of origin, the latter is not very exploited. So, seven castanéiculturists grouped within the La Castagnette association and supported by the Pays Viganais and the Region, presented a project to revive the sector, centered around a workshop located in the village of Mandagout. The idea: "that people, chestnut grove owners or simple walkers, bring their chestnuts in their raw state which will be transformed into flour, broken pieces, jam…and that they can then consume", explains Gaëtan Reilhan who highlights: "local, sustainable and environmentally friendly". In the spirit of the times.
Sterilize pigeons rather than kill them
#MONTPELLIER. Michaël Delafosse cut the tricolor ribbon this Tuesday in front of… a dovecote. A special inauguration whose objective is to reduce the population of these birds which can cause numerous nuisances, starting with droppings. "Until then, pigeons were captured twice a year and sent to Toulouse for slaughter. Nothing very glorious, including in terms of the carbon footprint", justified the mayor of Montpellier. His assistant for animal welfare, Eddine Ariztegui, then detailed how the method will be more respectful of the integrity of the bird."This contraceptive dovecote allows a technician to come every two weeks and shake the eggs, an act which will result in sterilization. He takes the opportunity to put seeds and water to encourage the pigeons to feel good there and lay eggs regularly". The female can produce 3 to 6 clutches of 2 eggs from January to September. A first device, on the Esplanade, made it possible to sterilize 3,000 eggs. Elected officials want to install eight in the city.
The number: 2
#REGION. This is the number of appeals filed with the constitutional council by losers of the legislative elections in former Languedoc-Roussillon. The first is that of RN Cédric Delapierre, beaten by 395 votes by the Insoumis Sylvain Carrière in the 8th constituency of Hérault. In the 5th of Gard, Nordiane Tria (1.1% in the 1st round) believes that the deputy Alexandre Allegret-Pilot (LR-RN) made himself ineligible by not having resigned from his post on time senior official at Bercy.
The Saint-Enimie college threatened
#LOZERE. The small college of Sainte-Enimie is threatened. Attached to that of Florac, it was allocated, last June, an hourly allocation for 14 students at the start of the school year by National Education… but on the condition that the numbers are present in September . However, the single class system, from 6th to 3rd, would have discouraged families. Mayor Alain Chmiel therefore announced, with regret, that the establishment should not reopen in a few weeks. The Department, however, plans not to declare its administrative closure to work towards a return of middle school students in 2025.
