Another France-Argentina lost by the Blues: the Futsal World Cup final passes them by

After a tight match, France lost to Argentina 3-2 in the semi-finals of the Futsal World Cup on Thursday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

For their first participation in the competition, Les Bleus achieved a small feat by holding their own against the Albiceleste, the reigning vice-champion of the world, for almost the entire game, only conceding on a penalty whistled three minutes from the end.

France will face Ukraine in an attempt to finish in third place on Sunday (2:30 p.m.), while the final will pit two futsal giants against each other, Argentina and Brazil. The Blues, 10th in the Fifa rankings, made a much more renowned team (5th in the world) doubt.

Cruel penalty

They had nevertheless conceded the first goal in the 3rd minute by Kevin Arrieta before responding in the wake by Nicolas Menendez (6th). In the second half, after conceding a second Argentinian goal (Angel Claudino, 8th), it was Mamadou Touré (25th) who equalized at 2-2 after a shot poorly repelled by the South American goalkeeper.

The French finally gave in three minutes from the end to the experience of the 2016 world champions on an unstoppable penalty scored with force by Kevin Arrieta.
