“The apostle of Quebec “, the reverend Paul Mukendi, already convicted of sexual assault, will have to undergo another trial to respond to similar movements relating to two other complainants.
Recall that the three complainants had filed a complaint against Mukendi at the time of his arrest in 2017. However, he had obtained from the court a separate trial, which has led to the holding of a first trial for which he was convicted in June 2019.
As for the accusations regarding the other two complainants, which include sexual offences between 2004 and 2009, Mukendi tried to make them fall two weeks ago by making a request Jordan. The superior Court however rejected this request.
Before a judge alone
On Wednesday, Paul Mukendi has finally decided to be tried before a judge alone rather than before a jury as in the first trial. The reverend had been sentenced to eight years in prison for nine charges of sexual assault, assault and threat of death on a young woman of the church the Word of Life, of Vanier.
It does, however, appeal this decision, which allows him to be in freedom until a decision of the court.
