APL revaluation: amount of the increase, beneficiaries, timetable… here’s what you need to know

The amount of personal housing assistance will increase in October 2024. What increase can be expected??

Various parameters relating to the calculation of personalized housing assistance (APL) and family housing allowances (ALF) or social housing allowances (ALS) paid by the CAF and the MSA will be revalued on October 1, 2024, indicates Mercipourlinfo.

A 3.26% increase expected

Since 2014, at this date, there has been an annual revaluation of housing expenditure parameters, i.e. rent ceilings, flat-rate charges or rent and rental charge equivalences.

The increase in these parameters is based on changes in the rental reference index (IRL) observed in the 2nd quarter of the current year.

In the 2nd quarter of 2024, the IRL increased by 3.26% over one year in mainland France, overseas and Corsica. Thus, the APL housing expenditure parameters should therefore increase by 3.26% on October 1, 2024, unless the government decides otherwise, specifies Mercipourlinfo.

How to benefit from it ?

As a reminder, the APL is financial assistance intended to cover part of the rent or co-ownership charges.

There is no step to take to benefit from this increase which will be automatically applied by the CAF and the MSA funds on October 1st.

In addition to the housing expense parameters, the calculation of personal housing assistance also depends on resource parameters (student resource packages and the R0 flat-rate deduction from the ordinary rental scale) which are revalued each year on January 1st.
