Argentine: confinement dans les grandes villes, assouplissement dans les régions

Buenos Aires | Argentina will extend until June 28, the containment measures in large cities affected by the Covid-19, and in particular Buenos Aires, while the regions with no cases will not be subject to measures of social distancing, announced on Thursday that president Alberto Fernandez.

“There will be two types of quarantine” to combat the outbreak of new coronavirus, explained Mr. Fernandez, during a press conference : “one will be a quarantine, isolation and other social distancing “.

Argentina, a country of 45 million people, has recorded since the beginning of march more than 20 000 cases of Covid-19, of which 608 deaths, according to the latest official figures.

The agglomeration of Buenos Aires and its 14 million inhabitants, the area most dense in the country, remains the worst affected, with “85% of the cases,” said the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof.

According to the argentine president, “there is no high-traffic” of the virus in 18 of the 24 provinces of the country, where measures of restriction will be so relaxed, with the recovery of many activities.

Only the important gatherings, sports events or concerts, will be prohibited everywhere.

The economic situation of the country, in recession since 2018, worsens with the health crisis, with forecasts of a decline of the gross domestic Product (GDP), ranging between 7% and 10%.

In Argentina, a containment required, is in force since 20 march, but some municipal and provincial authorities have already been authorised to relax the measures, in particular in regions where there are few cases.
