The report shows two deaths. The judicial precinct, located at Place Pierre-Flotte in Montpellier, was evacuated. Police and firefighters are on site.

"We heard two gunshots. Everyone lay on the ground in the courtrooms as well as in the room of the lost steps. We thought it was an attack. It's a shock. We're still shaking…", confides a witness to the tragedy.

Armed with a revolver, a man shot his wife, apparently in the head, this Tuesday, February 20 at 2 p.m., on the square in front of the Montpellier courthouse, between the entrance gate and the security post. 

Two lying bodies

The individual then turned the weapon on himself and fired, also at the head. The two bodies are still there, lying on the ground. The crime scene has been frozen.

At the request of the public prosecutor, the entire establishment was evacuated. As a precautionary measure, magistrates and lawyers were invited to exit through the parking lots. The perimeter was cordoned off by police officers who arrived in large numbers.
