This Tuesday, March 19, four ASBH players spent an hour with a sixth-grade class from Katia and Maurice Krafft college, in La Devèze.
"How much do you earn per month ?". This is one of the first questions asked by middle school students Katia and Maurice Krafft to the ASBH rugby players. This Tuesday, March 19, there were four of them facing a class of sixth graders: Yanis Boulassel, Paul Alquier, Pierre Courtaud and Harry Glinn. They were accompanied by Sylvain Charlet, forwards coach and former professional rugby player.
Combining sport and schooling
"We wanted to involve them in the taste for effort and work, explains Sylvain Ladent , the principal of the college. It’s important that they realize that it’s possible to combine a sports project and schooling. ;quot; It is therefore around this theme that the first part of the intervention was focused. The players, who have all gone through the training center or are still there at the moment, told the students about their respective journeys.
Sylvain Charlet also knew how to motivate the troops: "When you believe in yourself, you can achieve it. We must not give up, said the ex-pillar. On the other hand, you should not abandon your studies either because there are too few places compared to the number of graduates."
The rugby players also recalled the values of their sport: self-sacrifice, mutual aid, solidarity, humility. Then they explained how the team works with the rhythm of training. The hour ended with a brief photo session.
A return match is planned at the Raoul-Barrière stadium since the middle school students will come to observe a training session of the professional group.
