Scientists report that found the biggest explosion in the Universe since the Big Bang. In the large-scale detonation in space was released in 5 times more energy than the previous record – from a supermassive black hole at the center of a galaxy hundreds of millions of light years from Earth. According to astronomers, the explosion was so powerful that it punched a hole accretion disk around a supermassive black hole and its area of dispersion is comparable to the 15 galaxies of the milky way lined up next to each other, reports Eurekalert.

“We have seen such outbreaks in the centers of galaxies. But this is really very massive. We don’t know why the explosion was so big. But this cataclysm of cosmic proportions has occurred very slowly – over hundreds of millions of years”, – reads the statement of Professor Melanie Johnston-Hollitt from the University of Certina at the International centre for radio astronomy research.
The discovery was made using four telescopes. One of them included x-ray Observatory Chandra NASA, XMM-Newton of the European space Agency, broadband low-frequency radio telescope Murchison (MWA) in Western Australia and the giant Metrewave radio telescope (GMRT) in India.
