On Friday, September 27, the national police spotted a Mercedes C-Class driving at high speed, with music blaring, in the Hauts-de-Massane district, north of Montpellier. After several refusals to comply, the driver was finally arrested in the evening in Grabels. Aged 16 and a half, he had secretly borrowed his father's car.
He had taken advantage of his father's absence to borrow his Mercedes C-Class without his knowledge. This is what the BST (specialized field brigade) police officers were able to establish when they arrested a 16-and-a-half-year-old boy who was speeding and refusing to comply in the Hauts-de-Massane district, north of Montpellier.
Friday, September 27, it is 4:20 p.m. when they are patrolling as usual around the neighborhood's schools. There, they spot this sedan driving at high speed, music blaring. First near the Garrigues college, then near a nursery school.
He hits the police officers' door
As the police signal the driver to stop, he slows down before hitting the accelerator again. A little further on, he finds himself blocked by traffic. The police are about to get out of the car but the driver hits their door and continues on his way. As he flees, he hits a parked car, throwing it onto a second one. Then, on rue de Gênes, the driver disappears after dropping off his passenger.
The police manage to arrest the latter. Aged 19, he explains that the person driving the Mercedes is none other than the owner's son.
Found in Grabels in the evening
It was only in the evening, at 8:30 p.m., that the car and its driver were found in Grabels, a town bordering Hauts-de-Massane. The gendarmerie then informed the police that they had identified the young man and his father while intervening in a dispute over a parking lot.
The teenager admitted the facts and returned the sedan to his father, which was quite damaged. He will appear before the juvenile judge on December 10.
