A very prestigious competition which will allow the winners to better promote their products and their know-how.

Occitanie products were acclaimed in Paris with 464 gold medals, 418 silver and 129 bronze. In addition, seven regional companies won the excellence prize.

The 60th International Agricultural Show has closed its doors. It’s time to take stock. Attendance down slightly, to 603,652 visitors in a context of an unprecedented agricultural crisis and a very turbulent first day during the presence of President Macron. An official political visit which will include 82 others…

But the SIA is first and foremost the general agricultural competition. That of animals made it possible to award 1,283 prizes, 3,330 medals for wines and 1,840 medals for products. And in this game, Occitanie is a hit thanks to the quality and excellence of our products rewarded with 1011 medals. 

802 medal-winning regional wines

For the president of the Occitanie Chamber of Agriculture, Denis Carretier, "it's an immense pride for our regional businesses which show that they have a lot of talent".  In Occitania, 819 companies were candidates, 4,101 samples were judged. 802 IGPO wines were awarded medals and 209 local products, out of 817 products offered. 

Jérôme Despey, president of the Hérault Chamber of Agriculture, explains that a "medal is a real commercial added value. It’s a reference for the consumer. This competition brings notoriety for the producer and a benchmark for the customer".

This meeting of taste and French agricultural and gastronomic excellence demonstrated a very high participation rate of
the Occitanie region. Of the 1,011 medals, there are: 464 in gold, 418 in silver and 129 in bronze. 

Mastery of know-how

Regional animals were also popular such as the Lozériens Océannie of the Trigosse family in Recoules d'Aubrac who came 2nd in the young cow category and Lebroune of the Solignac family in Saint-Laurent-de-Muret, also finishing 2nd in the aged cow category. In all, 57 bovids from Occitania are in the list. It should be added, 14 Gascon pigs, 28 dogs and 7 horses… But no sheep, the only category that escapes the region. 

Two prizes in the “tips and tricks” competition

The "tips &tricks" competition helped to highlight the 'ingéniosityé professionals with a view to improving the quality of life at work. Among the 200 tips presented, five winners were accepted. awards including two Occitans. This is Emmanuel Dournes, 2nd prize, who breeds goats and who invented the stretcher to go to the markets by loading the boxes of cheese effortlessly. The "favorite" was é attributed&eac; &to Geoffrey Gabaston, viticulture cultivation manager for his mower which allows you to weed and mulch effortlessly.. & note that the 1st prize was assigned &agrav; a Breton, chicken breeder, for his mobile and secure staircase with a reserve of alveoli & œeggs. 

In addition, seven regional companies won the excellence prize, which attests to the mastery of the know-how of a company or producer enabling it to to guarantee great regularity in the excellence of its production: including the Sabledoc cooperative cellar in Aigues-Mortes in the Gard, the eaux-de-vie from the Domaine du grand Comté in the Gers,  La Drosera Gourmande foie gras in Aveyron or the olive products from Moulin d'Uzès in Gard… 

Proof of immense quality and great diversity of Occitan agriculture.
