Thanks to revenues of more than $20.6 million raised in theaters across the province since its release last December, the second film in the saga Avatar is now the biggest success in history at the Quebec box office. 

By accumulating since last Sunday receipts of $20,607,147, Avatar 2: The Way of the Water has indeed just surpassed the $20,596,891 raised by the first film in the franchise when it was released in December 2009, according to the figures compiled by the Cinéac agency. 

Director James Cameron can therefore boast of having made the three greatest successes in the history of the Quebec box office, namely the first two Avatar and Titanic ($19.5M).

The top 5 box office grossing movies in the province are completed by Star Wars : The Force Awakens ($15M) and Avengers: Endgame ($12M).

Globally, the first Avatar continues to be the top-grossing film of all time at the box office, grossing $2.9 billion. ranks third with a collection of $2.3 billion, behind Avengers: Endgame which cumulates receipts of $2.8 billion.
