Bac 2024: how does the Grand oral take place, this individual test which begins this Monday for final year students ?

The Grand Oral, a test for final year students applying for the general and technological baccalaureate, takes place between June 24 and July 3, 2024.

After a week of written tests, which began with philosophy on Tuesday June 18, 2024, candidates for the baccalaureate must now prepare for their Grand oral which is taking place between Monday June 24 and Wednesday July 3.

Since 2021, final year students in the general and technological stream must take an oral exam on their specialty courses called the Grand oral. Throughout the school year, students prepared two questions relating to one of their specialty courses, reports Actu.fr.

The student addresses one of the two questions

On the day of the individual test, the jury will choose one of these two questions, from which the student will be questioned and evaluated. The jury is made up of two professors from different disciplines. One of the teachers must teach a specialty.

The jury assesses oral fluency, solidity of knowledge and ability to argue. The test lasts a total of 40 minutes and it is marked out of 20, coefficient 14 for the technological route and coefficient 10 for the general route.

The Grand oral is divided into three parts :

1st part : the jury chooses one of the questions and the candidate has 20 minutes to prepare it. 2nd part : the student has 10 minutes to present their presentation. 3rd part : a 10-minute discussion time is planned with the jury, on the concepts that respond to the problem.
