Back to school allowance 2024: it will be increased this year, how to know if you will receive between 416 and 454 euros

The 2024 back-to-school allowance will be paid to all beneficiary families in the summer. A revaluation of its amount has been announced.

It is allocated according to resources. The back-to-school allowance (ARS) is allocated to families of children aged between 6 and 18, i.e. between CP and the end of high school, to cover the expenses generated by the start of the school year.

"You can benefit from it for your children born between September 16, 2006 and December 31, 2018 inclusive, and for each younger child already registered in CP", specifies the Caf website.

Starting August 20, 2024

This allowance paid by CAF will be distributed from August 20, 2024, reports in particular 20 Minutes. Three million households benefit from it. All will be entitled to a revaluation, underlines the Mercipourlinfo site.

It is also given to people whose children are in apprenticeship and receive less than 950 euros per month, or are students under 18 years old.

What amounts ?

Here are the amounts in force according to the age of the child, communicated by the Caf website:

416.40 € for children aged 6 to 10 and younger children enrolled in CP 439.38 € for 11-14 year olds 454.60 € for 15-18 year olds

What conditions ?

However, conditions must be met to benefit from it. The family's resources must not exceed a certain amount which varies depending on the number of dependent children. For a family with one dependent child, the ceiling is 27 141  ;euros per year. For a household with two dependent children, it is 33,404 euros per year; 39 667 euros per year for a family with three children, specifies in particular Capital.

What to do?

For your children born between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2018 inclusive, i.e. between 6 and 15 years old , you do not have to do anything if you meet the conditions and your file is up to date.

Always in the case where you do not exceed the resource ceiling, if your child is only 6 years old only in 2025 but is already entering CP this year, you can benefit from ARS. You must collect a school certificate from your school then send it to your Caf or deposit it in your My Account Space or on your app.

And for 16 – 18 year olds ?

If your child is between 16 and 18 years old, declare their education online. For your children born between September 16, 2006 and December 31, 2008 inclusive, you must confirm online that they are still in school, students or apprentices for the start of the 2024 school year by going to your EspaceMon Account on the Caf website or on your app.
