Bagnols-sur-Cèze: around fifty young people gathered to participate in the “Hamelin’piques” at the Hamelines medical-educational institute

The medical-educational institute Les Hamelines in Bagnols-sur-Cèze organized the first edition of the "Hamelin’Piques" this Thursday, May 30 on its football field . Around forty students from Les Hamelines and around ten from the ULIS class (localized unit for educational inclusion) from the Collège du Bosquet took part in sports workshops throughout the day. The young people, aged 10 to 20, were mixed into eleven different teams. "We have been working on this event since September. We wanted to mark the occasion in this year of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, explains Kevin Desbrun, sports educator in Hamelines and co-organizer of the day with Aurélie Bertaud. We had already created Olympics but it was between us. We wanted to develop the notion of inclusion which is close to our hearts because we have young people from the IME who would like to do a sporting activity in a club. ;

Clubs struggling to create adapted sports sections

The Bassin Bagnolais de Sport Adapté association (BBSA) and the handball (HBGR), rugby (RCBM) and athletics (BMA) clubs have set up fun discovery workshops . "For certain clubs, it allowed them to have a first approach with this public to, why not, subsequently create an adapted sports section within their club", continues Kevin Desbrun. The BMA does not have an adapted sports section but  "the will is there"."We just lack volunteers, regrets Philippe Eysseric, coach and judge at the club. We have already closed the baby athletic section because we did not have enough educators and coaches." At the HBGR and the RCBM, there is no section dedicated to adapted sport either but the two clubs work respectively with the BBSA and the IME des Violettes.

During this sports day, the young people also tested the sport of boules. "It’is a discipline in movement where we work on motor skills , coordination and balance", indicates Sébastien Charousset, employee of the French boules sport federation, who works in the department to develop the discipline.&nbsp ;"It’this kind of day is always interesting because it sometimes helps build public loyalty to a sport."

A second edition already in preparation

The Bagnolais organization 16/30 Formation, specializing in sports professions, mobilized eight people in BPJPES training (professional certificate for Youth, Popular Education and Sport) to support the teams in the various workshops offered. "We came to discover and confront an audience with whom we are not used to working", explains Roméo, in training until the end of the year. The day was "a success" for all partners and the Hamelines multidisciplinary team. The organizers are already thinking about a second edition next year, this time with the participation of other medical-educational institutes.
