Plainte des anti-corridas
#BEAUCAIRE A video filmed in the bullring set social media ablaze. After three warnings, the novillero Juan Angel García Corbacho having failed to kill his novilo in the allotted time, the animal was punted (stabbed) from the back track, without the banderillero managing to kill it. It therefore returned alive to the toril where it was finished off.
“Even bullfighting commentators said that it was a reprehensible practice”, notes Claire Starozinski, president of the Anti-Bullfighting Alliance, which filed a complaint. She points out that “bullfighting is codified. This explains the tolerance of the law. Otherwise, you can do anything and everything is permitted. Where are the limits??". She hopes to obtain a case law.
Abandoned research
#ARIÈGEThe mountain gendarmes have stopped searching for the 67-year-old Briton, who had reported being injured while hiking on Tuesday, August 6. “After five days, we have not managed to find him, the search will not resume but the investigation into the worrying disappearance is continuing” said the Foix prosecutor's office.
Injured after a fall, he had sent a distress message to relatives. Examination of the phone's geolocation data did not allow it to be located in a steep area where the network is random.
Place à la foire aux antiquités de Barjac
#GARDThe famous antiques and flea market fair in Barjac begins this Wednesday, August 14, early in the morning. It will end on Sunday, August 18 in the evening. A few hours before the launch, everything is ready, assures Michel Raoux, vice-president of the economic and tourist expansion committee of Barjac, the organizing association.
“Once again, we will be around 400 locations that will be occupied by between 350 and 360 exhibitors. They come from all over France but also from Spain and Switzerland." An edition that promises to be very successful despite the predicted heat and a tight market. “It's difficult”! Even at the merchants, many have not sold their stocks and, as a result, they only buy a little. It would be good if the situation could be resolved because it has been like this for at least three years. Since the Covid crisis. It would be good if it started again…”
And the organizer gives some advice to future visitors. “The best deals are on the first day, in the morning and early afternoon.”
Béziers is getting ready for five crazy days for the feria

As for the party, a wide choice of bodegas and casitas await the public from the Allées to the arenas.
The atmosphere will also be ensured by many free concerts: Patrick Sébastien will open the ball on the forecourt of the municipal theater Wednesday August 14, at 10 p.m. The Métissé collective, Keen V, Sophie les bas bleus, the Goulamas K are also scheduled. Finally, among the unchanging: flamenco festival, masses and tertulias on the menu…
