Black History Month: Here are 10 actors who stand out on our TV

Black History Month: Here are 10 actors who stand out in our story ;lé

UPDATE DAY

In the not so distant past, we counted on the fingers of one hand the actors of Quebec of Afro-descendant. There was of course Didier Lucien, Normand Brathwaite, Frédéric Pierre, Widemir Normil. Today, young people like Zeneb Blanchet can move us in all kinds of registers, Fayolle Jean Jr is successfully following the path paved by his patriarch, chef Oli (Olivier Lamin Louissaint) leads his own show. Samantha Fins and Tatiana Zinga Botao are now part of our daily lives thanks to Stat and Indefensible. Marie-Evelyne Lessard, Martin David Peters and Yanic Truesdale inherit main scores. Mélissa Bédard has etched herself in the hearts of people. Even Maka Kotto who stood out in politics is making a strong comeback. Black actors are no longer secondary. We keep them away from clichés. They are now teachers, doctors, investigators, parents. If February is Black History Month, history is now being written in color, for the better, making way for talented actors.

Patrick Emmanuel Abellard

A graduate of Dawson College's theater program, Patrick Emmanuel Abellard has had a successful career in both English and French. He held colossal roles in the theater. Think of King Dave or Legacy. On TV, he navigates between the crazy world of Completely high schoolwhere he's Keith O'Keefe, Allie's repressed gay best friend, the shenanigans of Philippe Peck, a real estate agent in Counteroffer, an empathetic school psychologist in a sticky situation in Chouchou, a police officer in the 3rd season of Plan B.

Currently, she plays Stéphanie, Catherine's friend, confidante and colleague in Les moments parfaits. A lively woman who does not hesitate to say what she thinks. In We, she is the mother of Anaïs whom she tries to get closer to. In Les bracelets rouges, she is the mother of Flavie who lives with anorexia, a diagnosis that took time to detect.

Since then, he graduated from the National Theater School where he distinguished himself. He plays a financial adviser in Les mecs, Father Edmond Oscar in L'Échappée, a perceptive and exasperated investigator, Romain Félix, in Larry and a bereaved son with no inspiration and smothered in secrecy in Fragments. Role that brings him into all sorts of areas. He also hosts the series Pa t’mentir. We'll see him shortly in the television adaptation of High Demolition.

Naïla Louidort

All life revealed her to us as she played a pregnant teenager. In the 2nd season of The Flaw, she teamed up with Céline as an investigator. We can now say that we see it everywhere. Manipulative, she manages a not too neat network in Larry, she is an idealistic policewoman who takes risks in 5e rang< /em>, a journalist in Counter-offer and she is uncompromising towards her anorexic sister in Les bracelets rouges. In The Emperor, she is a surging Olympian who the sponsors want and who ends up in the hands of an abuser. She is also herself five days a week in Big Brother celebrity. To crown this great year, it will be from Denys Arcand's next film, Testament.

He played the tough in I would like to be erased, an investigator in Cerebrum then in A criminal affair, and a leader of gang in Larry. He accumulates projects giving life to diverse roles. He was from the Google Black sketch of the last Bye Bye and will be from the next series directed by Louis Choquette, Les révoltés. And we find him every day in the emergency room of St-Vincent Hospital where he is Dr. Marc-Olivier Morin.

She is sequestered and tortured in the series Piégés, plays a seductive journalist in Padre, embodies a burnt-out social worker in L'Échappée , a junkie mother in a toxic relationship in I would like to be erased and works in a radio station in Me neither.
