Après un succès étriqué sur le parquet de Charnay (73-76), pour l'ouverture du championnat dimanche dernier, Lattes-Montpellier reçoit Landerneau, ce samedi à 20h.

The BLMA started its new adventure with a victory, during the first day of La Boulangère Wonderligue, the new nickname of the LFB, with a new sponsor. In Charnay, the Gazelles had a long time to eat their black bread, before taking it out of their opponents' mouths at the end of the match, to finally win 76-73 at the end of a promising finish.

Having been battered for most of the match, the Latto-Montpelliéraines relied on their recruits Dulcy Mendjiadeu and Ana Suarez. The Cameroonian center did not miss her debut in the Hérault jersey with 17 points and 7 rebounds and a nice 8/9 shooting, while the Spanish point guard added 14 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, including the last two free throws to seal the victory.

Landerneau, surprise winner

“We have the ambition to be the best defense in the championship”, declared president Olivier Ribotta before the start of the championship, if the 73 points conceded in Charnay are not a performance that will remain in the spirits, the 11-0 inflicted on the Burgundians while his protégés were trailing 68-58 with five minutes to go, will be much more so.

This Saturday, at 8 p.m., in its Lattes sports hall, equipped with a brand new VIP area, the BLMA welcomes Landerneau, surprise winner of the French champions of Villeneuve d'Ascq on the first day (94-79). The Bretonnes relied on a trio of Evelyn Akhator (24 pts-9 rbds-4 int), Angel Baker (19 pts-4 rbds-5 assists), Maud Stervinou (19 pts-4 rbds-5 assists) to thwart the Northerners. Three threats that will have to be closely monitored by coach Valéry Demory and his players in front of the 1,200 or so supporters expected on Saturday evening.
