The Toronto Blue Jays put on quite a show in their regular season opener Thursday at St. Louis, beating the Cardinals 10-9.
< p>Outfielder George Springer was stunning, hitting five hits on six at bats. Bo Bichette and his four strikes from the safe spot were also essential to the Jays' offensive success.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. produced the winning run by hitting a sacrifice fly, allowing Springer to cross the plate .
Then, after giving up at least one run in six of the first eight innings, the Jays closed the door in the ninth inning. In a duel that was not very flattering for the pitchers, Jordan Romano frustrated the “Cards” by making two strikeouts.
The Blue Jays and the Cardinals will meet again on Saturday and Sunday at Busch Stadium.
