Officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) launched an investigation overnight from Saturday to Sunday after the discovery of a body in the suitcase of a burnt-out car in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles.
Emergency services were notified, around 12:50 a.m. , that a vehicle was on fire at Parc-nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies, located on boulevard Gouin, not far from the Pointe-aux-Trembles train station.
Police discovered the body after the fire was completely brought under control.
A security perimeter was erected across Pointe-aux-Prairies Park in order to better understand the circumstances of the event.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the identity of the individual.
An expert will be also practiced on the vehicle.
