GRAND-REMOUS | The body of a 26 year old male who was missing since Saturday after he fell from a boat in the Baskatong reservoir (Outaouais), was found Monday.
Divers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) have recovered the body of the victim around noon. The man had injuries to the head, pointed to the police, adding that an autopsy is planned to try to better understand the underlying causes of his death.
The identity of the victim has not been unveiled by the provincial police. The man was not wearing a floatation jacket when he fell into the water.
In addition, the SQ was indicated by press release, in the morning, that the man who ran the boat had been arrested for driving with abilities impaired by alcohol.
“At the post, he failed a breathalyzer test. The man of 50 years of Saint-Jerome has been released on a promise to appear at a later date. He could face charges,” said SQ.
A dozen people stood on board during the accident. “Many were under the influence of alcohol,” added the police.
The victim fell from the boat Saturday evening around 21: 30, and sank into the lake. This passenger fell overboard during a maneuver made to avoid another boat.
The event occurred in the sector of the chemin des Perdrix, Grand-Remous.
