Depuis de nombreux mois, le constructeur Boeing est dans la tourmente. Et cela va peut-être continuer avec l’annulation de nombreux vols en raison d’une vaste opération de contrôle.

The world of aviation is expected to experience disruptions in the coming days. The FAA, the American transport regulator, has requested an immediate inspection of the pilot seats of nearly 900 Boeing planes that are in circulation in the world after a major problem during a flight of the Chilean airline Latam last March, indicates BFMTV.

Tens of thousands of flights "potentially" affected

During this incident, no less than fifty passengers were injured. In Australia, during a Latam Airlines flight from Sydney to Auckland, a "technical problem"  occurred on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Twelve people had to be hospitalized, one of them in serious condition.

According to BFMTV, the “technical problem” mentioned by the spokesperson for the South American company caused an “air pocket” so violent that all the passengers who had not fastened their seat belts were propelled to the ceiling.

The inspection requested by the FAA concerns no fewer than 64,000 flights scheduled in the next 30 days on 895 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. This represents more than 18 million available seats. The impact "potential" could be huge.

“Major airlines such as All Nippon Airways, Qatar Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines or Air Europa, among others, are expected to be subject to this mandatory inspection, which disrupts a tight seasonal flight schedule worldwide”, the regulator's statement noted.

However, the aircraft will not be grounded all at once since there is a 30-day delay, but this will cause significant disruption, especially at this busy time of year, says Carlos Cendra, partner and director of marketing and communications at Mabrian, quoted by the news channel.
