The majority of the audience praised biopic with Rami Malek in the role of Freddie mercury (94% on Rotten Tomatoes), but the film critics weren’t particularly impressed. One of the claims – a lot of historical inaccuracies.
Interestingly, the scenario in the first reading approved the members of the band Queen Brian may and Roger Taylor, but in spite of this, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is accused of that script writers have changed the time frame of the history of the band Queen to create a comfortable movie drama.
Historical inaccuracies in the film a lot, but really a major distortion of the facts only two.
In “Bohemian Rhapsody” Freddie mercury portrayed in a negative light because he, with the support of his Manager, Paul Prenter (Allen Leech), wants to record a solo album, and because of this, relationships between group members deteriorate. In reality, Freddie was not the first party Queen, recorded a solo album in 1981 and 1984, the band’s drummer Roger Taylor has released two solo records. Interestingly, in the film, Taylor (played by Ben hardy) ridiculed the plans for Freddie solo album – ironic, considering that in reality he released two.
The second very important inaccuracy arises from the way the film displayed the HIV-diagnosis, mercury. In “Bohemian Rhapsody” musician learns about the terrible diagnosis shortly before the reunion concert Live Aid, and it helps unite former friends. In reality, the mercury, probably, not even knew about the illness before the Live Aid concerts took place in 1985, and the diagnosis musician hardly put earlier April 1987.
Despite all the criticism and historical inaccuracies, “Bohemian Rhapsody” has already hit the production costs and with a budget of $ 52 million to earn in rental 149 million.
