In the humidity of the Albert-Batteux gymnasium in Montpellier, the fights continued since the end of the afternoon during this first edition of the Jean-Farré Trophy, in tribute to "Tané"  this emblematic character of the gypsy community and Montpellier boxing, died last year.

The level rose crescendo until the first fight awaited by the audience who came to fill the bays installed around the blue-white-red ring. All the chairs were then occupied to see the nugget of Figuerolles Lorenzo Lopez (19 years old).

Even MHSC star Téji Savanier, close to the Montpellier fighter, attended his fifth professional match against a boxer from Nicaragua Nestor Maradiaga.

Lopez at points

Lorenzo Lopez dominated the fight from the start thanks to his speed. Hit in the liver, Maradiaga was counted out by the referee in the second round. The kid from Figuerolles continued his undermining work to win the next two rounds.

And when he suffered a slight awakening from his opponent, he received the support of the public committed to his cause. Logically, the referee designated as winner on points Lorenzo Lopez who won his fifth career success, remained undefeated and paid a vibrant tribute to Jean Farré.

In the process, his teammate at the Figuerolles Boxing club Mohamed Kani climbed into the ring to compete for a European lightweight belt against the Italian Stefano Ramundo. The third round, high-flying, ignited the crowd. Kani was sharp, fast, he hit the Italian champion several times, he made him wobble in the fourth and marked him noticeably in the head during the next.

Finally, in the sixth act of a fight which included 12, he delivered the blow, followed up the Transalpine with blows that hurt, forcing the referee to put a end of the meeting.

Thanks to this clear and flawless success, Mohamed Kani made a thunderous comeback, once again seized a continental belt and concluded the evening in the best possible way in tribute to Jean Farré.
