Brendan Gallagher in orthopedic boot in the Caribbean

Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher doesn't seem to be nearing a return to play as he took his orthopedic boot with him for his vacation in Barbados. 

This is what photos published by his wife Emma Fortin on Instagram showed on Tuesday.  

On one of them, Gallagher stands from behind, boot to toe, with refreshments in hand.

Gallagher was injured Jan. 3 against the Predators in Nashville. 

Eight days later, the Habs announced a six-week absence with a lower-body injury that was scheduled to end on February 15. 

However, everything seems to indicate that the veteran will need a little more time.

This is not the first injury for the surly player before this season. The latter has totaled four goals and nine points in 25 games since the start of the campaign.

The Canadiens will resume action on Saturday by hosting the New York Islanders at the Bell Centre.
