BSM, between leisure association and football club to educate young people

Since the start of the 2024 school year, the BSM association has taken care of young people from Biterrois.

Founded last September, the Béziers Sport Multi-activity association, or BSM, brings together both a football club and a leisure center for children.

"The range is quite wide, we don't just do football. The two complement each other. The club exists thanks to the association and vice versa", explains the president, Charles Sango.

For this professional sports instructor, physical activity is a way of transmitting certain virtues. "I believe in the educational value of sport, it is a school of life. We can learn respect for others. The children are in a strict framework where they do not insult each other, do not belittle each other".

Inspired by sport, united by diversity

The motto of the BSM is &quot ;Inspired by sport, united by diversity. The association is open to all and currently has around twenty children registered. To supervise them, a team of volunteer educators. The activities offered are very diverse: boxing, paddle, laser game, karate, swimming pool…

"All sports help to improve get into the practice of football, by developing other skills such as motor and psychological skills". Indeed, if it is not obligatory to be part of the football club to benefit from the leisure activities offered by the association, football is part of the DNA of the BSM.

"It's a passion", smiles Charles Sango. "Béziers is not such a football city, well, it is not football like in the big cities. Here, it’s more practiced as a leisure activity". The educator hopes to pass this passion on to his children.

In addition to developing the physical abilities of the children, the association takes care of their intellectual abilities. She offers homework help on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Maison Cordier.

A delay in starting up

With such a diverse offering, the launch of the collective did not go smoothly. "I founded the club with two people who were not serious and turned out to be ill-intentioned. They wanted to stop while everything was in place, says Charles Sango. "But with the parents we decided to continue. This made us waste time, we had to redo the file with the Hérault district. We were not able to start the championship in September. Fortunately, we have a good reputation in the industry, and clubs like USB or Villeneuve-lès-Béziers have invited us for friendly matches.".

The town hall also supported the club by opening the doors of the Lucie Aubrac gymnasium and by lending premises and equipment. "We are here for the city's youth, all goodwill is welcome. We don't have a lot of resources and we need volunteers and sponsors".
