Sarah El Haïry est venue présenter un dispositif qui permet aux parents dont l’enfant est âgé de 11 ans de bénéficier d’une aide substantielle pour financer un séjour en colonie de vacances. Explications.
It was in La Grande-Motte that the Minister responsible for Children, Youth and Families, Sarah El Haïry, came this Thursday, April 11, to present the Pass Colo, a new device for for children aged 11, which helps finance a large part of a stay at a summer camp. "It’is 200 to 350 €, on an average cost of 500 € for a stay. This right is accessible to 80% of families, depending on the parents' income. It’s the promise of building common memories, of giving a taste for nature, of doing, of the curiosity of the other,” sums up the minister. And, at the same time, "fight against idleness" and its consequences.

From April 15, parents will be able to go to the website www.jeunes.gouv.fr, to check what aid they are eligible for, find the list of all the stays offered & hellip; "and register their 11-year-old child without paying any fees", assures Ms. El Haïry. Who adds: "The idea is really to tell yourself that there is no brake on registering your child at summer camp".
Harry Potter, astronomy…
To convince them, the minister recalls that in a previous role, she worked “to renovate reception areas, create new attractive holiday camps on the ;rsquo;astronomy, robots or Harry Potter, and facilitate the passage of the Bafa". "We have also added, in the training, a program to combat sexual violence. It could also be a brake".
A letter to the parents of 600,000 children
If 11-year-old children were targeted, it’s because it’is "the pivotal age between CM2 and the 6th". To best inform parents, a letter to "the parents of 600 000 children of this generation" ; has been sent. The objective is to restore the summer camps to their former appeal. When there used to be 3 million departures per year, there are only 1.1 million today.
In front of the children, staying in La Grande-Motte, the minister even said she wanted to do the summer camp, the first step in a " ;path of engagement", which would then pass through "the SNU and civic service"< /em> so "rebuild cohesion in a fractured generation".
