Caesar 2020 : the key moments of the ceremony

This Friday the 28th of February, took place at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the 45th ceremony of Caesar. An evening under high tension since Roman Polanski and his film, j’accuse had 12 nominations, while the director has for years been accused of rape. If you have been too lazy to look, PRBK you summed up the evening with the highlights. The program ? The winners, a Florence Foresti in great shape and a victory shock to Roman Polanski, who has – rightly – a lot pissed off the actress Adèle Haenel.

It was evident that the Cesar 2020 would be particularly tense and it has not failed. If the entire team of the film I accuse was decided to boycott the ceremony, it has not prevented the voters to give the film a very controversial. And to say that everything was pretty well started…

Florence Foresti does not mince his words

This year, it is Florence Foresti, who was the animation for Caesar. The comedian, who had already openly down Roman Polanski at the announcement of the appointments has not turned around the pot in his opening speech, even going so far as to compare the director with… Atchoum. “We need to rule a folder (…) There’s a time, we are going to have a worry in the ceremony. There are 12 times where going to have a little trouble” was first released, the comedian adds : “That is what is done with a Roro ? That is what we did with Popol. That is what is done with Atchoum ?“. A little later in his sketch, the star did not hesitate to tap directly. Evoking the nominated films and the stories they evoke, she said : “Thanks be to God, the paedophilia in the church… I acknowledge, the paedophilia in the 1970s“.

A speech for more diversity

The case of Roman Polanski was not the only controversy surrounding the César 2020. At the end of the week, people have signed up to a forum to demand more diversity to the awards ceremony but also in the world of French cinema. Aissa Maiga, arrival to hand over the award for most promising female, has advocated for more equality. “It’s been over two decades that every time I find myself in a meeting as that of the trade, I can’t help but count the number of black people in the room” she said before continuing : “It is a family, we say everything, right ? You who are not impacted by the issues related to the invisibility, stereotyping or the question of the color of the skin… The good news is that it’s not going to do it without you. Think about inclusion ! What is at stake in the French cinema does not regard as our hyper-privileged, it concerns the whole of society“.

A sketch with Isabelle Adjani, which recalls the memories

Throughout the evening, Florence Foresti has a relaxed atmosphere with skits. One of them will remain in the memories as she plays with Isabelle Adjani that she had mimicked it in a skit broadcast in It is not lying. Watch until the end for the ultimate reference !

Roman Polanski won the best director award, Adele Haenel leaves the room

It was towards the end of the ceremony that it is seriously spoiled. Because, as feared by many people, it is Roman Polanski who has been crowned the prize of best director. This last was not present to collect his trophy (given in the before-last), but the announcement has the effect of a shock in the audience. Very upset and it includes, Adèle Haenel has now left his seat and the room. In a recent interview, the actress revealed last year to have been the victim of inappropriate touching and harassment on the part of the director Christophe Ruggia when she was between 12 and 15 years, had heard of his discontent in the face of the Academy. “Distinguish Polanski, it is to spit in the face of all the victims, “she told the New York Times.
