Calgary couple break world record by running handcuffed marathon< /p> UPDATE DAY

A Calgary, Alberta couple celebrated 20 years of marriage by running a marathon in handcuffs.

Rich and Megan MacDonald competed in the 2023 Calgary Servus Marathon on Sunday bound by chains around their wrists, but that didn't stop the Calgary couple from breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon by mixed handcuffed couple.

The two runners completed the 42.2 km race in 3 hours 18 minutes and 38 minutes, while the previous record was 25 minutes slower, according to the Global News network on Sunday.

As she completed the 36 kilometer stretch, Megan said to her husband, 'for our 10th anniversary, you had me offered earrings in dimming and for our 20 years of marriage, you made me do that”.

The couple, who already have five Guinness records to their credit, made it possible by their participation at the marathon to raise over $8,000 for a charity that supports those at risk of developing mitochondrial disease.
