California: a police officer killed and two others injured

 BEN LOMOND, California – A police officer was killed and two others injured Saturday afternoon in an ambush in northern California, in the United States.

Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller, 38 years of age, who officiated with the sheriff of Santa Cruz, was fatally shot at Ben Lomond, near Santa Cruz, reported Sunday the local media.

Two other police officers including one officer of the California Highway Patrol were injured, said sheriff Jim Hart for journalists.

Called to inspect a suspicious pickup truck, a team of police of Santa Cruz has been the target of shootings of a man who attempted to flee in a vehicle.

This resulted in an exchange of gunfire where the deputy sheriff was mortally wounded. His death was recorded in the hospital.

38-year-old, the suspect, Steven Carrillo, was injured during his arrest. He was transported to the hospital and his life is out of danger, has been provided.
