An octopus weighing almost 8 kilos caught in Aude

#LEUCATE – We are not quite in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seaby Jules Verne, but the octopus harpooned by Sébastien Cala, along the Aude cliffs of Leucate, inevitably brings us to mind. This octopod indeed has extraordinary measurements with a weight of 7,650 kilos on the scale, probably a new French record for this species. With its suction cup arms, it has a wingspan of 2 meters and a length of 1.35 meters. It seems that the last of this ilk, considered the French record in the Mediterranean, was taken in 2022 in Carnon, near Montpellier, and weighed 7,460 kilos. A great source of pride for this agricultural worker who has been passionate about freediving underwater hunting since the age of 16.

Engineering: we're hiring

Note that La Valse, a bronze sculpture by Camille Claudel, was sold for 1.18 million euros to the artist's great-niece in 2017.

Injured in a wild run in Nîmes

#MISCELLANEOUS FACT –On the night of Friday 22  On Saturday March 23, two vehicles were involved in a run, these wild car races, on the road to Beaucaire, in Nîmes. Cuisine: a competition and training

#LOZERE –As the catering sector finds it increasingly difficult to recruit, France Travail is relying on an original way to find candidates. Thursday March 20, nine people took part in the competition at the Sacré-Cœur hotel high school in Saint-Chély-d’Apcher. They had two hours to concoct a dish from a set basket. At the end of the test, only one candidate stood out in the culinary competition. But everyone will be able to join the professional training for kitchen assistants at the CFA of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, in Mende.
