Canadian: Allard will replace Guhle
|MISE À DAY
LAS VEGAS | Acquired from the Los Angeles Kings at the trade deadline against forward Nate Schnarr, Frédéric Allard did not have to wait long before making his debut with the Canadiens.
Urgently recalled the day before, Allard will play against the Golden Knights on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena. The 25-year-old defenseman will replace Kaiden Guhle who was injured in the last game against the Ducks in Anaheim.
The CH spoke of an upper body injury for Guhle and an assessment on a daily basis. Martin St-Louis said it wasn't too serious for his young defender. He probably suffered a shoulder injury after being checked by Maxime Comtois.
“I didn't talk too much to Frédéric, I leave that to Roby (Stéphane Robidas),” said St Louis. I just told him to take care of himself.”
A former third-round pick of the Nashville Predators in 2016, Allard has appeared in just one NHL game. He made his first steps in the Bettman circuit on March 13, 2021 with the Preds against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This season, the right-handed defenseman has played 35 games with the Ontario Reign, the Kings school team. He had seven points (2 goals, 5 assists).
“I know it will be a special game for him,” said St-Louis. He is a young man who grew up in Quebec. He played only one game in the NHL. I imagine that the Canadiens are his childhood team.”
Allen in net
Jake Allen will have the mission of slowing down the attack of the Golden Knights. The New Brunswick native will be making his third out of four starts on this trip to the American West.
