Canadian: Molson Cup to Samuel Montembeault
The goalkeeper of the Montreal Canadiens Samuel Montembeault won the January segment of the Molson Cup on Friday morning.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper thus beat fellow Quebecer Rafaël Harvey-Pinard by having been named first star twice in addition to obtaining a second star.
In 10 games during the month of January, the native of Bécancour stood out in front of 323 shots, the fourth highest total on the Bettman circuit during this period. He finished 4-6-0 with a 3.14 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Jake Allen won other segments of the Molson Cup since the start of the season.
Montembeault will be honored during a short presentation before Saturday afternoon's game against the New York Islanders.
