CH: how hard it is for Jake Allen

; DAY

Canadian goaltender Jake Allen has already been on a better streak since his National Hockey League debut, and his troubles are pretty hard to ignore.

< p>The veteran has dropped his last six decisions, including the two most recent this week. On Monday, the Colorado Avalanche beat him six times on 15 shots in an 8-4 loss. Then the Florida Panthers gave him a hard time when he replaced Samuel Montembeault in the first period, scoring six goals in 18 throws. Ineffective, he also returned to the bench he occupied for the rest of the game lost on account of 9 to 5.

Thus, Allen flinched 12 times in approximately 45 minutes of play. These are the underperformances that have marred his statistics for the season, in particular his save rate (.892) and his goals-against average (3.56). However, he refuses to give in to discouragement.

“Obviously it was not a good game from me or the team. I take responsibility. […] It was a bizarre start to the game for both sides, but for me it wasn't enough. I have to leave that behind me and respond in the right way, he said in a press briefing after training on Friday. Guys will be ready to bounce back.”

Despite Thursday's awful night, there's no question of revisiting this horror movie to find out what went wrong technically.

“For this kind of match, you don't watch the video. 98-99% of the time, you do your homework for the next game, but this is the type of game you throw in the trash and forget about,” he said.

Work

Allen stresses the importance of daily effort to get out of the doldrums. The magic recipe simply does not exist.

“It is to remain myself. I show up at the arena every day to work, I don't really take time off. I try to engage myself in order to be the best version of me and to help this group. This was not the case yesterday. In my eyes, you have to look to the next day,” he said.
