The Montreal Canadiens' season is coming to an end, but David Savard will not be able to play the last games with the team because the defender is injured in his knee.
The organization made the announcement moments after the Bell Center lost 3-0 to the Carolina Hurricanes. There are thus five games left in the 2022-2023 campaign.
Savard has missed the last two games, including Thursday's against the Florida Panthers, because of what the CH had first qualified lower body injury. The 32-year-old veteran had taken part in the warm-up period before returning to the locker room and not coming out.
The Saint-Hyacinthe native had three goals and 17 assists for 20 points in 62 games in his second season with the Canadiens. The former Columbus Blue Jackets also maintained a differential of -14.
Savard's contract is valid until 2024-2025, he who annually earns a salary of 3.5 million $.
