A former liberal candidate in the last federal election has been formally accused of having possessed and accessed the child pornography.
Gerry Hawes, who carried the colours of the liberal Party in the ontario riding of Simcoe North, was arrested Thursday after an investigation that lasted four months, reported the local media orilliamatters that cited the regional head of communications for the Ontario provincial Police.
“It is quite shocking to the community, I’m sure,” said to orilliamatters sergeant Jason Folz.
His arrest was preceded by a search warrant may 5, the last in a residence of Orillia in central Ontario.
The accused, 58-year-old, who had bitten the dust last October in this castle, a conservative, was no longer of any function within the liberal Party of Canada, said the spokesman of the party, Matteo Rossi, in Global News, which has taken over the new.
Neither the association of the electoral district or the party got wind of these actions alleged, was added.
According to the site orilliamatters, Gerry Hawes has long been involved in the liberal Party.
He must return to court on August 25 next.
