Three other alleged pedophile priests of the Clerics of Saint-Viateur have been arrested by the police of the Sûreté du Québec for crimes of a sexual nature.
The arrests took place Thursday and last Tuesday in Joliette, Montreal and Rigaud.
The crimes that are alleged against all three men of the church have been committed between 1953 and 1982 in Rawdon, Montreal and Havre-Saint-Pierre, in Côte-Nord.
Jean-Maurice O’leary, 82 years old, Claude Gariépu, 73 years of age, as well as a third person of 93 years who has not been identified by authorities, facing charges of indecent assault and gross indecency in respect of persons of the male sex.
The three accused are also members of the congregation of the Clerics of Saint-Viateur, which has seen five of its members being arrested last week for various sex crimes to the place of young boys.
“The events complained of allegedly took place between the years of 1953 and 1982, while these men, members of a congregation, were responsible for the teaching and mentoring of underage victims, in various colleges of education in Quebec,” said the Sûreté du Québec in a press release.
Several other alleged victims have been identified and the investigation is not yet complete in this case, indicated forces of the order.
