Clermont: a new emergency care center is put into service

"I thought that in Montpellier there weren’enough doctors, but here it’s worse. Doctors cannot absorb more than their patients. Some patients turn around, find no one and, sometimes, let the pathologies drag on until the day they have to go to the emergency room because it gets worse", diagnosis& ;nbsp;Doctor Mohamed Benammar. A former emergency doctor, the doctor is now part of the medical team working at the new Centre Consultations and Emergency Care, at Medical Counter 2, in Clermont-l’Hérault. "Here, I find myself a bit of an emergency doctor, we feel that we feel that we are useful. And we work in good harmony with the local doctors, we are starting to take root ", appreciates the practitioner.

New unscheduled care service, the CCSU is a "brick" more which expands the offer which has been developing in Tanes Basses for several months, with the opening of the first medical counter. The structure is gradually equipped with an imaging center, then, at Counter 2, an MRI and a scanner (in partnership with the Montpellier University Hospital), an analysis laboratory (BCH) and therefore, since mid-May, an unscheduled care center which completes the picture a few cables from the ;SMUR antenna.

"All diagnostic elements are in place"

"It’is a form of response to a certain medical desertification. Having all these specialties in the same place will anchor the healthcare offering in the region, even for general practitioners and doctors who are not based at the Comptoir. In the same city, all the diagnostic elements are in place", measures Doctor Jérôme Benis. The doctor is one of the radiologists who consult on the site. He took into account the real estate project for Counter 2, an extension which will have made it possible to accommodate the MRI, in synergy with the University Hospital. "A public-private partnership which allows to make up for the delay that existed in the territory".

A medical co-working space completes the picture

In the pipeline, a shared consultation center, "medical co-working space", will open on the second floor of Comptoir 2 with eight cabinets available. "We provide ready-to-use premises, we facilitate the installation of full-time or part-time doctors, doctors who come consult in Clermont, often, but not only, in secondary practice", details Doctor Benis.

Today thirty doctors provide consultations in 21 specialties on Counter 1 (medical imaging, oncology, pediatrics, anesthesia, endocrinology…) Ultimately 150 to 200 people will work (full-time or part-time) on the two buildings.

Team: Three doctors and four liberal nurses work at the CCSU (one pair per day). The CCSU is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.   I subscribe to read more
