Coastline: public meetings from spring

Faced with rising temperatures and rising sea levels, coastal erosion and what we call “coastline” is a major subject in Sète and around the Mediterranean. Sète Agglo held a meeting this week in Frontignan on the subject, in the presence of a group of design offices and a panel of citizens. «A process will be opened from the spring via public meetings, says Loïc Linarès, deputy vice-president for ecological transition and sustainable regional development. The territory has already been cited as an example by the president of the national coastline commission. We are dealing with developments whose consequences we cannot control, even if scientific reports force us to make decisions in the weeks and months to come.» The Agglo intends, within a future climate budget, to integrate these projects linked to the challenges of tomorrow.

Mutuelle communale de Sète : Pacull claims paternity

The City of Sète set up, at the start of the year, its municipal mutual insurance company. SNCF Montpellier – Perpignan line: the project will "intensify"

The “New Montpellier-Perpignan line” is always a project in the minds of the elected officials of Sète Agglo, a territory eminently concerned by phase 1 (Montpellier-Béziers) of this heavy and thorny issue. Last week, François Commeinhes, the president of Sète Agglo, confirmed that the high-speed line, declared of public utility for its phase 1, was "on the rails& quot; and was part of "daily concerns".

The north of the territory (Gigean, Poussan, Loupian and Mèze) is expected to be crossed ("scarred", say some elected officials) by important works (in particular by a viaduct 1.4 km long and 28 meters high, in the commune of Poussan). Risk of pollution of the Issanka source and weakening of the AOP Picpoul are other reasons for concern. "The company Ligne nouvelle Montpellier-Perpignan has just been set up, says Jean-Guy Majorel, deputy vice-president for economic development of Sète Agglo. The municipalities of Sète Agglo are shareholders." 

The company's next board meeting is scheduled for March 22. Four commissions will be created there, in particular with the aim of measuring the impacts for the territory. "I was asked to be elected a precursor"< /em>, indicates Jean-Guy Majorel, who confirms the "intensification" phase of the project.
