Cole Caufield about to settle with the CH?

UPGRADE DAY

Cole Caufield would sign a contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens by the end of the regular season.

At least that's what Tony Marinaro said on his The Sick Podcast on Thursday.

“What I'm told is that the contract extension will be announced by the end of of the season. The final game will be April 13 against the Boston Bruins. I don't know when exactly the news will be announced, but it will be done by then.”

TVA Sports journalist Marc-André Perreault, who was Marinaro's guest for the occasion, agreed.

“You're probably right. Jeff Gorton says the talks are going well and he is confident of reaching an agreement. When he gave me a smile, I knew it was coming.”

Caufield is currently in the final year of his entry-level contract.

He scored 26 goals and had 36 points in 46 games, before seeing his season come to an early end due to injury.
