Computer, screen, keyboard, telephone and even coffee maker: how to easily get rid of unused computer equipment

On the occasion of World Digital Cleaning Week which runs until Friday March 15, Montpellier is offering to collect equipment in order to recycle it.

Spring cleaning begins this year with a digital cleaning. Thanks to Digital Clean Up Day but also World Digital Cleaning Week which works to reduce digital pollution, this is the opportunity to get rid of these broken, unused, sometimes bulky equipment lying around at home.

And to make it easy, quick and practical, the City and Metropolis of Montpellier have set up collection points.

Decluttering that combines with an ecological and supportive approach

Just take the equipment and bring it to the Montpellier Town Hall or to the hotel of Métropole and drop it off. Then, it will be recovered in order to be recycled and reconditioned. Equipment still usable after repair will be given to the Emmaüs association. 

How does it work ?

Until Friday March 15 from 8 a.m. 5:30 p.m., everyone can drop off at the reception of the Hôtel de Ville (1 place Georges Frêche & in Montpellier) and & that of the Hôtel de Métropole (50 place Zeus in Montpellier) all electrical equipment and peripherals such as phones, computers, mice, cables, ink cartridges and even batteries, watches, coffee makers, etc. res….

Moreover, last year, some 55 kg of material was collected and 170 refurbished computers were distributed to people who needed them, which made it possible to participate in the fight against the digital divide.
