This Friday, June 7, cans of sardines sold in several supermarkets across France are being recalled due to a health risk if consumed. Since they cannot be stored at room temperature, they may contain harmful bacteria.

Cans of sardines sold by many retailers (Carrefour, Leclerc, and others) throughout France have been recalled as a precautionary measure due to a health risk on Friday, June 7, 2024. They have a packaging defect, reports Consumer Recall.

Affected are 135g cans of sardines "olive oil and chilli" from the Parmentier brand, containing four fish . They were on the shelves of Auchan, Carrefour, Intermarché, Leclerc and Système U supermarkets, from May 24 to June 3, 2024. Their barcodes (GTIN) are 3019081238650 and 3019089044680 and their expiration date had was set for March 27, 2029.

Bacteria

This recall is due to "internal detection of a defect calling into question storage at room temperature". Indeed, fish can contain bacteria and "other biological contaminants".

People who have these products in their possession must not consume them and are invited to destroy them or return them to stores. Customers will then be able to obtain a refund.

Consumers can contact the number made available to them for more information: 0.801.907.681. The recall procedure will end on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
