Invitée sur le plateau de RTL ce dimanche 18 février 2024, la ministre du Travail Catherine Vautrin a assuré que la rupture conventionnelle ne serait ni modifiée, ni supprimée.
The idea was raised in November by the executive. Matignon then explained that the conventional termination would, too advantageously, accompany thousands of employees into unemployment. Which would subsequently lead to very significant expenses for unemployment insurance.
The Minister of Labor had already denied the rumors this Wednesday, February 14 on ;was neither studied nor considered".
"This device has proven itself"
This Sunday, Catherine Vautrin reaffirmed, on the RTL set, that the conventional break would neither be reformed nor eliminated by the government, reports BFMTV.< /p>
"At this stage, this system has proven itself and there is no question of touching this system which is precisely part of the relationship well understood between the company and the employee. (…) I will not touch this device", explained the minister.
Previously, the media Marianne and La Tribune reported that the government was considering to remove this system which would have "today had perverse effects on employment". Between 2017 and 2022, the number of conventional terminations increased from around 395,000 to more than half a million, according to the Ministry of Labor, an increase of 27.4% in five years.
"Supporting those who are looking for employment"
Concerning the question of full employment, the minister clarified that this could be more complicated than expected: "It has not escaped you that the national situation and international has evolved considerably", that it "s'has deteriorated a little bit", she said.
And to conclude: "There is no question of letting our guard down on the subject, but (we must) support those who are looking for job".
