The Parti Québécois suspects the government of having fabricated false inspection reports in CHSLDs that they then submitted to coroner Géhane Kamel.
At the resumption of hearings of the national component of its inquiry into deaths in CHSLDs during the first wave of COVID-19, Monday, the coroner said he was dissatisfied with the inspection reports submitted by Quebec as part of his inquest into the deaths in CHSLD during the first wave.
She indicated that she had received a “blank grid” and an Excel file “which records what would have been sent by the inspectors” when she would rather have received the reports of 'original inspection completed.
“If the information turns out to be correct and that documents have been fabricated without specifying that it is a fabrication, that too is an important lie, it is the fabrication of false ”, reacted the PQ leader, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, Tuesday. democratic like Quebec ”.
“How do you want the coroner to find his way there?” How do you want her to do her job in a methodical and complete way when the government refuses to be completely transparent? ”He protested.
The parliamentary leader of Québec solidaire, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, attacked the government's lack of “transparency” in the file.
“I understand the coroner's disappointment, then I think disappointment is an understatement. What are we at, three, four, five versions, there, on this issue from the government? This is unacceptable, ”he said.
Let us recall that the Ministry of Health had undertaken to provide copies of the reports produced by its inspectors in the CHSLDs during the first wave and of which the actual existence has created controversy.
The government, through Assistant Deputy Minister for Seniors Natalie Rosebush, initially argued that these reports were only completed verbally. Faced with the outcry created by the oppositions in reaction to this assertion, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) then specified that there were “backup copies”.
