Coupe de France/Mathis Mazaudier: “I have a lot of friends at ENL, but I will support Le Puy, it's my new club”

This season, Mathis Mazaudier, a Barraban striker trained at the ENL and who notably played for US Saint-Flour and Clermont Foot 63, joined Le Puy Foot 43. The first team of Le Puy (N2) is playing against the ENL (R2) for the fourth round of the Coupe de France on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Baïsse in Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole.

What are the reasons for your departure from Entente Nord Lozère ?

I left to discover something else, to have a new experience. I decided to join Le Puy also to play at a higher level and give myself new goals! I train twice as much here (at Le Puy), I will be able to progress even more.

How is your integration into your new club going ?

So far, everything is going well. I get on with all the players. But I have to find my place. There are a lot of us in my position and there is a strong rivalry. You have to be the best all the time, in every training session. I play right or left winger, it depends on the games. I have to prove that I am the best in this position, especially when players from the first team go down. So far, I feel good and I hope it will improve further.

What are your goals for the coming seasons ?

My goals for this season are first of all to play as many matches as possible in Regional 1 and to integrate the training sessions of the 1st team (National 2). Even if playing matches in National 2 will be too complicated this season, I want to reach as high as possible in the future. I have a one-year contract, I am sure of what I am doing this season. Next season will depend on how this year goes on the sporting front.

My best memory is the victory in the Coupe du Cantal

What did you get from your years at the ENL ?

It gave me experience in senior. I knew what to expect, especially on a physical level. I was helped a lot by my teammates, especially the old ones like Florent Bodin who helped me get through the young senior stage.

What was your best memory at the club ?

I have a lot of good memories but my best memory is without a doubt our victory in the Cantal Cup. It was truly incredible, I will remember it all my life.

A good publicity stunt for the ENL

The ENL, your former club, is playing Le Puy Foot this weekend in the Coupe de France. What are your thoughts on this match??

The ENL has nothing to lose, everything can be decided in one match, especially since Le Puy is not on a very good dynamic. The Puy players must not take them lightly. It's also good for the ENL, it will bring a lot of people to the stadium and give a good publicity boost. It can only bring good, no matter the result.

Who do you swing your heart for, between your old and your new club ?

I have a lot of friends at the ENL, I did my football school there, but I will support Le Puy. This is my new club and if I had played, I couldn't have been for my opponent.
