COVID-19: 12,833 new cases in Quebec

Quebec broke a new record on Tuesday by registering 12,833 new COVID-19 infections, when the Legault government planned to take stock of the situation in the province.

La Belle Province also added 15 new deaths linked to the disease. A total of 40,550 scans were performed in the last 24 hours.

And the situation in hospitals has not improved, with 702 beds occupied (+88), including 115 (+6) in intensive care.

The Minister of Health of Quebec, Christian Dubé, will also hold a press briefing at 1 p.m. on Tuesday with the director of public health, Dr Horacio Arruda.

On the vaccination side, 2,530 first doses, 1,274 second doses and 55,887 booster doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

Hospitalizations on the rise in Ontario

Ontario saw a drop in new daily cases for a second day in a row, with 8,835 new COVID-19 infections.

The number of hospitalizations, however, continued to rise, according to shared figures on Twitter by Ontario Minister of Health Christine Elliot. The country's most populous province now has 491 hospitalized people (+11), of which 187 (+11) are in intensive care.

The minister made no mention of the deaths, however. .

More than 144,000 doses of vaccine were administered on Monday. Minister Elliot said nearly 91% of Ontarians aged 12 and over received their first dose and 88% received two doses.

The territory of Nunavut has reported 37 cases. assets of COVID-19, according to the Chief of Public Health of Nunavut, Dr. Michael Patterson.
