COVID-19: 18 nouveaux décès, le masque obligatoire dans les transports en commun dès le 13 juillet

The prime minister François Legault has confirmed, Tuesday, that the wearing of the mask will become mandatory for persons of 12 years and more in transit as of July 13, without for the moment that fines are awarded.

A transition period of two weeks following the entry into force of the new standard, after which the operators of transport services can deny access to offenders.

Quebec also has the collaboration of the citizens, rather than on a coercive approach to implement the obligation. “There will be no police”, said prime minister François Legault during his press conference. No contravention will not be awarded, but the situation could change depending on the evolution of the situation.

People who suffer from a particular medical condition preventing them from wearing a mask will be exempt from the measure.

The complacency observed in the last few weeks force the authorities to make the covers-face-mandatory in public transport, where distance physics is often impossible.

“When one wears a mask, one is not fearful, it’s just respectful,” insisted the prime minister.

For commercial or residential buildings, Quebec continues to “strongly recommended” the wearing of the mask, without the oblige. The situation may change, however, said François Legault.
