COVID-19: hospitalizations still down

Falling since January 8, hospitalizations related to COVID-19 continue to decline, but deaths from the virus are still high, according to the most recent report from Santé Québec.&nbsp ;

As of Wednesday, there were 1,688 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 533 of them due to the virus. This is a drop of 23 from the previous day. Of those hospitalized, 34 are in intensive care (-3), including 19 due to COVID-19. 

The province also added 19 virus-related deaths, four of which occurred in the last day, eight between two and seven days ago and seven more than a week ago. 

In the screening centers, 523 new infections were detected while 36 tests rapid positives were declared on the government platform. 

In the health network, 2,069 workers are absent due to COVID-19, whether for preventive withdrawal, isolation or waiting for results.
