The United States has recorded 839 excess deaths related to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing to 114 613 the number of deaths due to the COVID-19 in the country, according to the count on Friday from the Johns Hopkins University, in which reference is made.

The first economic power in the world is, in absolute value, by far the country most affected by the pandemic, both in the number of deaths than cases diagnosed (2 044 572). This last number is probably much lower than reality, due to the difficulty of access to the testing encountered at the beginning of the epidemic.

Since the end of the month of may, the number of daily deaths exceeds very rarely 1000. The new contamination hovers around 20 000 in average.

In the United States, the first wave is not yet completely passed, and the epidemic has moved from New York and north-east of the country to a wide band covering the south and west, making the move now looks to hospitals in States such as Arizona, Texas or Florida.

In several States, the number of infections is at its highest since the beginning of the pandemic.

“When we start to see more hospitalizations, this is a sure sign that one is on the wrong track”, explained on CNN the highly respected immunologist Anthony Fauci, counsellor of the White House.

While the country has reached 100 000 dead official COVID-19 on 28 may, it is likely to reach 130 000 by the national holiday of July 4, according to an average of multiple models in epidemiology.
