Quebec should announce a significant drop in the number of hospitalizations linked to COVID-19, during its assessment on Thursday.

According to information obtained by TVA News, the number of people admitted to hospital is expected to fall by around 117.

Just under 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 are also expected to be announced, in addition to around 60 deaths.

If these data prove to be correct, this will be the largest decrease in the number of hospitalizations in one fell swoop since the start of the fifth wave.

The number of patients hospitalized while carrying the virus peaked last January 18 with 3,425 beds occupied in hospitals across the province, according to data from the National Institute of Public Health.

Since then, the number of hospitalizations is gradually decreasing, for a total of 3,270 beds occupied at the latest report to date, unveiled on Wednesday.
